The Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities today announced an extension for Dr. RoSusan Bartee as its Vice-President for Access and Success. She will serve in this capacity through 2016.
Dr. Bartee, a Tougaloo College alumna and the first African-American to receive full tenure and full professor status in the University of Mississippi’s Department of Leadership and Counselor Education, will be on extended academic leave from the university to continue in her leadership role with APLU.
“Bartee will continue leading and developing APLU projects and initiatives focused on expanding access and increasing degree completion among minority students,” said APLU President Peter McPherson. “Bartee will also continue support of the research, policy, and advocacy-focused agenda of the Council of 1890 Universities and the Commission on Access, Diversity, and Excellence (CADE). We are pleased to have RoSusan continue this critical work with APLU and thankful to the University of Mississippi for granting her an extended academic leave. Her capacity for and commitment to generating thoughtful and timely programmatic efforts are important toward furthering the mission of APLU.”
