High achieving students out of the Mansfield ISD school district will enter their senior year of high school with one college offer in hand – from Prairie View A&M University.
The college and the district yesterday announced the new partnership, which guarantees admissions to high school juniors in the top 25 percent of their class. From the Dallas Morning News:
Eligible juniors will need to have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 and receive an 820 on the critical reading and math portions of the SAT, or a score of 17 on the ACT exam. Qualified students also need to satisfy Texas Success Initiatives requirements.
“It’s always exciting when we are able to provide our students with opportunities that will set them up for success after they graduate high school,” Cynthia McCallum, area superintendent for middle and high schools, said in a release.
