Austin Lane, a Vice-Chancellor with the Lone Star College System has been named president of Texas Southern University.
In a statement, TSU officials praised Dr. Lane’s record of boosting enrollment at Tyler Junior College and at Lone Star’s Montgomery campus, where he served as president from 2009-2015.
“The Board of Regents engaged in a dedicated and thorough search of outstanding candidates and Dr. Lane was clearly the right man at the perfect time in Texas Southern’s existence,” (TSU Board Chairman Derrick) Mitchell said. “We look forward receiving the benefit of his strong and progressive leadership to move TSU to the next level in higher education.”
A Langston University graduate, Dr. Lane will begin his tenure at Texas Southern on June 7, pending a final vote from the university’s Board of Regents.
