Officials from the District of Columbia and Howard University broke ground on a new space for tech creators to develop and launch startup businesses.
The Innovation Incubator will offer office space, business mentoring and training to small and midsize companies seeking to bring new ideas to market. With a goal of increasing the number of minority business owners in tech industries, the hub will bring venture capital firms to the District to merge resources and community-minded concepts.
“Today, we take another big step towards building a tech ecosystem in the District that will make us a national leader in the fields of technology and inclusive innovation,” said (DC Mayor Muriel) Bowser. “This new incubator will support our growing technology and innovation sectors and ensure we address the needs of startups and entrepreneurs in the District. I look forward to working with Howard University and Luma Lab to foster innovation and equity in all 8 Wards.”
The Innovation Incubator is scheduled to open this fall.
This is awesome. SU has the LSBDC on the Baton Rouge campus that is foster entrepreneurial and technological development in conjunction with the College of Business and College of Engineering. All HBCUs especially A&M schools should have some type of innovation hub where students can foster and develop innovation and small business
