Howard University alumnus Faraday Okoro impressed a panel of judges during last week’s inaugural ‘Untold Stories’ series presented by AT&T and the Tribeca Film Festival, and emerged as the grand prize winner for emerging cinema artists.
Okoro, a Trustees’ Scholarship winner at Howard and New York University film school graduate, outpitched four other movie makers from around the country for the $1 million prize. He will use the grant to create his feature-length film ‘Nigerian Prince,’ a story about a Nigerian-American teenager who “joins forces with an internet scammer, in order to return to the United States.”
According to a release, Faraday’s film will premiere at next year’s Tribeca Film Festival and will run across several AT&T video platforms, including DIRECTV Now.
