Magic Johnson To Establish $2.5 Million Scholarship at South Carolina State

South Carolina State University today announced a new partnership with Pro Basketball Hall of Famer, philanthropist and entrepreneur Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson to raise $2.5 million for an endowed scholarship at the university.
The fund, which will be named in Johnson’s honor, will support eligible students in the SCSU School of Business.
“I am overjoyed by the opportunity to continue my commitment to higher education through my partnership with SC State University. Since visiting the university over a year ago, we have worked to develop meaningful ways to contribute to its success. This endowment will help continue the legacy of our nation’s historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). I encourage all corporate and socially responsible citizens to support our HBCUs,” said Earvin “Magic” Johnson, chairman and CEO of Magic Johnson Enterprises.
It is the first endowed scholarship fundraising initiative launched in the history of the university. In a release, school officials pledged to reveal more details about the partnership in an official launch event, to be held in Washington D.C. next week with SCSU alumni and executives.
