Millennial Graduates Large Part of $7.2 Million Fundraising Mark for North Carolina Central

North Carolina Central University graduates leaving the university after the year 2000 comprised its largest group of donors during its last fiscal year, as the school this week reported receiving more than $7.2 million raised in private support of scholarships, operations, and research initiatives.
Officials say more than 7,000 donors contributed to the mark, with millennial alumni giving making up more than 40 percent of the group responsible for $2.5 million in gifts from graduates during its ‘Every Eagle, Every Year’ annual giving campaign.
“Thanks to our generous contributors, NCCU continues to advance in providing high quality education to students,” said NCCU Chancellor Johnson O. Akinleye, Ph.D. “Every gift makes a difference in the lives of students and expands the impact of this great university on the world.”
It is the second consecutive year of record giving from millennial alumni and an increase from last year’s total fundraising mark of $6.5 million.
“A successful fundraising year is always exciting, especially one that includes new donors,” said Harriet Frink Davis, Ph.D., vice chancellor for Institutional Advancement. “NCCU’s culture of philanthropy is continuously developing. The continued success of NCCU’s annual giving campaign is the result of the commitment and generosity of our alumni and supporters.”
