In a letter sent to the campus community this morning, Morehouse College President John Silvanus Wilson told students, faculty, and staff that he remains as president of the institution, with oversight over its operations and administrative duties.
Citing the story first reported in the HBCU Digest yesterday evening as ‘not accurate’ but a ‘possible interpretation’ of a letter sent from Morehouse Board Chairman Robert Davidson Jr., Dr. Wilson’s email says that he remains as head of the campus until the completion of his tenure at the school.
Morehouse officials announced Chief Operating Officer William ‘Bill’ Taggart as the individual responsible for ‘day-to-day’ operations of the college in yesterday’s letter.
“While the search to identify a new president continues,” I am pleased to announce that the transition committee has identified William “Bill” Taggart, Chief Operating Officer, Morehouse College, as the individual who will begin to assume day-to-day leadership responsibilities for the college,” Davidson wrote.
