A person is in the custody of Charlotte Police after a shooting at Johnson C. Smith University injured one person this afternoon.
The suspect, a non-JCSU student, was apprehended and a gun was confiscated, according to a statement from the university. The shooting happened in a residential hall, and was caused by two JCSU students helping the alleged shooter gain unauthorized access to the building.
The victim is not a Johnson C. Smith student, and according to the Charlotte Observer, the shooting is believed to have been accidental.
