Officials at Southern University say they expect the school’s fall incoming class of freshmen to exceed last year’s numbers, based upon preliminary data collected from application increases and admitted students through this month. From a release:
According to the SUBR Office of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, more than 7,600 applications have been received from new freshmen, 25 percent more than this time last year. More than 1,700 new freshmen have up to now been admitted for the Fall 2016 class. More than double compared to last year’s numbers at this time – a 103 percent increase.
More than 1,500 new students are expected to attend mandatory orientation sessions at Southern this fall.
