Texas Southern Regents Delay Presidential Selection

The Texas Southern University Board of Regents says it will convene this evening to select and announce a new president of the institution, a decision they scheduled last week for this morning after more than 12 hours of debate and interviews.
The Houston Chronicle reports that the board interviewed two unnamed finalists for the post, but remain on schedule to select a new president today despite rescinding a posted board agenda and all regents not being present for the morning meeting.
“This is about the president, so we want all of our board to be available,” (TSU Board Chairman Derrick) Mitchell said. “We’re not trying to hide anything. We’re really trying to act.”
