Dr. deGregory’s appointment is the latest notable accolade for the Fisk University and Tennessee State University alumna, who also today kicked off her 2018 ‘#PanelPicker’ campaign for the annual SXSW conference.

An exploration of the founding of the Atwood Institute for Race, Education, and the Democratic Ideal (AI) at Kentucky State University. As a part of an HBCU, the Atwood Institute advances scholarship relevant to the nation’s 100+ HBCUs by focusing on the delicate condition of black America and other marginalized populations. Functioning as part talent incubator, part research hub, part town square and part conscience for the HBCU community, AI is a point of entry for discussions about the very best of HBCU culture.
The AI’s founder and Kentucky State University President, Dr. M. Christopher Brown II will be joined in conversation with HBCU Digest Founder Jarrett L. Carter Sr., and Dr. Crystal A. deGregory, the center’s director, who is the panel’s organizer.
Panelists are selected is through a crowd-sourced platform that enables the community to have a voice in the programming selected for SXSW 2018. Community crowd-sourcing makes up 30% of the selection process. Voting is open now and closes August 25.
