Morgan State University Athletic Director Floyd Kerr will retire this summer, ending a nearly 11-year term of service as CEO of Bears’ programs which captured several Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championships, and helped to develop the school’s athletic profile in Baltimore City.
Kerr, who came to Morgan State after working as athletic director at Southern University, was praised by MSU President David Wilson for his years of service.
“I appreciate Floyd‘s service to the University during his time here. There have been many noteworthy achievements, including a successful basketball program and winning a football conference championship. We certainly wish him well in the future and hope he will enjoy his retirement years.”
Morgan won titles in men’s basketball and a football co-championship in 2014, its first since 1979.
Kerr will retire on June 30. Officials say an interim director will be appointed if the national search does not conclude by his departure date.
Huge loss for Morgan State an even bigger loss for Southern U. when he left. Our programs have not been on the right track since he left and my only wish is that he comes back to SU. We already know he still keeps a home in Baton Rouge, LA.
