In the hours following the announcement of Bennett College’s pending loss of membership as an accredited institution with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, leaders from Benedict College in South Carolina responded with financial support for the women’s college.
Benedict President Roslyn Clark Artis shared the news of the impromptu fundraiser on Facebook last week.
I did not know Bennett College was affiliated with the AME Church. This is critical for its continued survival.

Though I’m not a Benedict alumnus, Im still hoping for the best for the college.I would hate to see any HBCU be threatened with closure like that.
I’m a native of Greensboro, an Alum of a thriving HBCU, and a AME member!. It’s always so painful to hear of any of our “Family” members in distress. There is so much history tied to this wonderful institution, I pray it can be turned around!
